You may have noticed there’s quite a bit to our fabulous Otways hinterland. To be honest, we are quite in love with our region, and we want you to feel the love too. Be assured, we know that you may be a first time visitor to our area, but we are confident you will find all the information you need to make your stay as close to perfect as possible.
Find information about the history of the region and our towns, details of upcoming Otways events, and directions to all the amazing things to see and do while you are here. The Otway Harvest Trail website, Parks Victoria and those of the hinterland Councils – Surf Coast, Golden Plains, Colac Otway, Corangamite and Moyne Shires, are all great resources for planning your trip to the area. When you arrive in the region, the staff of the Visitor Information Centres scattered across the hinterland will help you personalise your experience of the Otways. Sometimes things don’t always go to plan. In case of emergency there are 24 hour police stations in Geelong, Colac and Warrnambool, and local police available on call after hours.
And if nature does its thing, as it can do, stay aware! Download the Vic Emergency app for up-to-date information on bushfire warnings and flood warnings. Set up a watch zone within the App to receive emergency notifications in your area as soon as they are posted. If you see smoke, check the App and/or the ABC Local Radio for information. And remember – NEVER drive towards it. If there are fires or floods in the area as your visit approaches, be sure to contact your accommodation provider for details of the local situation before heading down.
In an emergency, call 000. Ambulance and police services are on call across the hinterland. Don’t worry. We’re here to help!
